Year of commissioning 2015

The consortium’s contractor formed by Urbaser Ltd and Balfour Beatty Scottish and Southern Ltd. was responsible for the design and construction of the new Essex Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant, with a maximum treatment capacity of more than 400,000 tonnes per year for kerbside collected residual waste, trade waste collected by local authorities, street sweepings, and all non-recyclable waste from household recycling centres across Essex and Southend on Sea.

In this project, TAIM WESER supplied 3 fully automated trapezoidal windrow composting lines for pre-treated Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) by stack turning machines (ROTOPALA), with a process capacity of 375,000 ton/year.
